Getting started with Air alert radio

Choose a channel, turn on the sound and make the app work for you.

Air alert radio lets you listen to channel messages when reading your screen is inconvenient. Start with one useful channel so you can get familiar with the app before adding more.

Install the app

Download Air alert radio from the App Store and open it on your iPhone. You need an internet connection to receive new messages and play audio.

Choose a region and channel

Open channel selection and choose the channel you want to hear. Use the region filter to select the areas that matter to you. These choices determine which messages you receive.

Start with your own region and review your selection later. See our guide to channels and regions for more detail.

Start playback

Tap the play button at the bottom of the screen. Check your iPhone volume and the audio output: its speaker, your headphones or a connected sound system.

If a channel is not currently broadcasting, audio may not start immediately. Silence alone does not mean that the app is malfunctioning.

Listen your way

Read messages in the feed or listen with your screen locked. Playback controls are available on the lock screen.

The app helps you follow messages. Check important information against official sources and follow instructions from local authorities.
